Golden Delicious are a mildly sweet apple. Super crunchy off the tree unlike the ones sitting around a long time at the store. Well known for pie making and baking because these apples hold their shape when cooked. Also can be used for applesauce. I prefer to mix other apples with Goldens for applesauce, but that is a good practice for applesauce anyway because you get a more diverse flavor!
Other Apple Update:
Honeycrisp: You will find some pretty nice ones out there if you walk to the far end.
Gala: The 2 main rows are not super crunchy anymore but great for applesauce because the applesauce will be nice and sweet. We have 4 older Gala trees in another section and these are still firm and crunchy. We are happy to show them to you, so just ask if you are interested!
Ruby Jon: Lots still out there.
Melrose: Gorgeous, large apples. Tons left.
Liberty: Still plenty left.
Jonagold: Walk all the way back to the railroad tracks and head south and pick off those 3 rows. They are SO beautiful and large. Plenty on the other 6 rows too. Not as beautiful but super juicy and crunchy tasting. Can't always judge a book by it's cover :)
We have some Jonathon apple trees hiding in the older section of the orchard. Great for baking. Ask about those and we can help you find them.
Ruby Mac: Done
Smoothies: Done
